The story behind this heart is fascinating. The phrase engraved on it says: "Je t’aime plus qu’hier et moins que demain," which means "I love you more than yesterday, less than tomorrow."
This phrase comes from a poem titled "L'Éternelle Chanson" by the French poet Rosemonde Gérard, written in 1889. The original line in French is "Car, vois-tu, chaque jour je t'aime davantage, Aujourd'hui plus qu'hier et bien moins que demain," which translates as "For, you see, each day I love you more, today more than yesterday and much less than tomorrow."
This phrase was adopted by jewelers of the time to engrave on pieces that became known as the "lockets of love." I love it! Not only because it's a heart, but because it's a phrase that speaks of love, not just for others or from others to oneself, but it can also be interpreted as self-love.
